Cyber Monday Mattress Sales
If you’re in the market for a new mattress, you can save a lot of money by shopping on Cyber Monday. Many mattress brands offer their biggest deals and discounts of the year during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the two biggest online shopping holidays of the year.
Cyber Monday, also known as Blue Monday, always falls on the Monday after Thanksgiving. This year, it will take place on Monday, November 27. However, some online brands will kick off their Cyber Monday 2023 mattress deals more than a week in advance of the actual date, and others push their sales periods to the following weekend. This gives you at least two weeks to research different deals and discounts from online mattress brands. To get started, check out our list below.

Why Should I Buy a Mattress Online?
If you’ve never bought a mattress online, then Cyber Monday is a great time to start. Cyber Monday sales can save you a bundle on new mattresses, as well as pillows, sheets, and other sleep essentials. Benefits of purchasing a mattress online, rather than at a mattress store, include the following:
Lower Prices
There are certain perks to shopping for a mattress at a brick-and-mortar store, but you’ll likely spend more on a new bed at one of these establishments. Mattress stores must contend with high overhead costs that drive up the costs of mattresses and other products on the sales floor.
Online brands don’t face the same level of overhead because they operate few, if any, brick-and-mortar locations and employ a smaller staff. For this reason, the beds you’ll find online often cost much less.
Wider Selection
When you shop at a mattress store, your options will be limited to models sold at that establishment – and even then, the bed you want may not be in stock. Online shopping allows you to access a wider range of mattresses, such as memory foam, latex, innerspring, hybrid, and airbed models.
Hassle-Free Customer Service
A common complaint about visiting mattress stores is that sales staff – who usually work on commission – can pressure customers into buying a bed that actually isn’t right for them. You won’t need to contend with pushy employees when buying a mattress online. Browse different models at your leisure, and if you need to ask questions, most online brands offer live web chat with customer service personnel.
More Convenient
Forget driving to a mattress store, finding an open parking space during a big sale, and navigating a crowded showroom. Ordering a mattress online can be done from the comfort of your own home. As an added bonus, most online mattress brands provide free ground shipping anywhere in the contiguous U.S., and some also provide the same service for customers in Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada. The mattress will be delivered to your doorstep, no signature required, and you’ll be able to unbox it on your own time.
If you don’t mind paying extra for added convenience, you can opt for White Glove delivery. This includes scheduled delivery, full assembly of the mattress in a room of your choice, and removal of your old mattress. Many brands provide White Glove services for $150 or less, and a few even offer it free of charge.
Generous Trial Period
Since some customers are apprehensive about buying a mattress without sleeping on it beforehand, online brands usually offer some sort of sleep trial. These trials allow you to test out the mattress in your own home for a certain length of time before deciding whether to keep the bed, return it for a refund, or exchange it for another model from the same brand. Most sleep trials last at least 90 nights, and some span a year or longer.
For added peace of mind, the vast majority of online mattress brands offer free return shipping and will issue a full refund for the mattress during the trial period.
Tips for Finding the Best Cyber Monday 2020 Mattress Deals
Check for Discounts in Advance
In the weeks leading up to Cyber Monday, scope out the websites of different mattress brands. Many will advertise their Cyber Monday sales in advance to generate word-of-mouth. Some brands even kick off their discounts the weekend before Thanksgiving, giving you more than a week to take advantage of the big savings.
This also gives you the opportunity to comparison-shop. By browsing the selections of different brands, you’ll get an idea about how much the mattress you want will cost – and which brands offer the biggest discounts.
Read the Reviews
Most mattress brand websites include product pages with reviews from actual owners. These reviews can be very useful for determining if a mattress will live up to the hype or fall short of your expectations.
Be sure to read positive and negative reviews to gain a well-rounded perspective. At the same time, keep in mind that each review represents another person’s subjective experience with the mattress. Their needs and preferences may be entirely different from yours.
Chat with Customer Service
A growing number of online mattress brands have incorporated live web chat onto their website. This helpful tool allows you to ping customer service personnel with questions about a particular mattress. Try to access web chat during normal business hours, as many sites disable this function at nights and on weekends. If you’re unable to chat with a customer service professional, reach out to the brand via phone or email instead.
Bundle Your Purchase
If you’re buying a new mattress, then you may also need to purchase a new foundation and sheet set. Some online mattress brands allow you to bundle your mattress purchase with these accessories. You’ll spend more for this packaged deal than you would for the mattress alone, but you’ll also save money bundling as opposed to buying each item on its own. If bundling is within your budget, this can be a very cost-effective way to update your bedroom.
How to Buy a Mattress Online
Buying a mattress online might seem intimidating or risky at first, but the process is actually quite painless. The trick is to research and compare as many different brands and models as possible before deciding which mattress you want.
Make a Mattress Checklist
In order to find a new mattress that meets your needs, we recommend evaluating your current bed. Take note of qualities you like and dislike about the mattress, and ask yourself the following questions:
- Are you happy with the size, or do you want a mattress that’s larger or more compact?
- Does the mattress feel too soft or too firm?
- Is the mattress too tall, or does it sit too close to the ground?
- Do you sleep hot on the mattress?
- Do you wake up with soreness, pain, or pressure points?
- Is the mattress too loud?
- Do you or your partner wake up when the other person moves around or gets out of bed?
- Do the edges of the mattress sink too much when you sit on or lie near the edges?
Based on how you answer, you’ll be able to narrow down your ideal mattress based on firmness, thickness, and material construction.
Set a Budget
Browse different models that meet your specific criteria to see how much they cost, and then you’ll be able to set realistic spending goals for your new mattress. However, there are a few budgetary factors to consider beyond the bed itself.
- Shipping: Online “mattress-in-a-box” brands usually provide free ground shipping anywhere in the contiguous U.S. Some brands extend this offer to Alaska, Hawaii, and/or Canada – but if you live outside the lower 48 states, you’ll probably pay additional delivery fees. Other options, such as expedited ground shipping or White Glove delivery, will also incur extra charges from most brands.
- Returns: While the majority of online mattress brands offer free return shipping and full refunds, some charge return fees during the sleep trial period. You may also need to pay extra for exchanges, especially if you upgrade to a more expensive model.
- New Accessories: If the new mattress you’ve selected is thicker than your current bed or you’re planning to order a different size, then you’ll most likely need a new foundation and sheet set. These accessories can increase your overall spending by a considerable amount, even if you bundle them with the mattress.
Make Your Selection
After narrowing down your picks based on needs and preferences and establishing a comfortable budget, you should be able to find at least one mattress that’s a great fit.
Ordering the mattress is a quick and easy process. For most online brands, you’ll simply add the mattress to your shopping cart and pay for it during checkout. Make sure you’ve selected the right size and, if relevant, firmness level for your new mattress, and check for promotion codes before placing your order – even outside of Cyber Monday, many brands offer discounts for their products.
In most cases, you’ll have 24-48 hours to cancel your order if you change your mind and receive a full refund. However, once the mattress ships from the company’s facility, you won’t be able to return it until the sleep trial period. This is because online brands typically coordinate deliveries with FedEx, USPS, and other third-party carriers. Once the mattress leaves their hands, you’ll need to contact the courier about cancellations and other delivery matters.
Unbox and Enjoy
If you choose standard ground shipping, the mattress should reach your residence within a week or two – though wait times may be longer during Cyber Monday sales. The mattress will be delivered to your doorstep. Before carrying it inside, we recommend getting assistance from a roommate or family member, as the mattresses can be quite heavy.
Bring the mattress to the room of your choice and set the box on the foundation or bed frame you plan to use. The mattress will be compressed and wrapped in plastic. Open the box, set the mattress on its base, and carefully cut away the plastic with a knife. The mattress will immediately begin to expand, but you may want to wait a day or two before sleeping on it to allow for full shape recovery.
Take Advantage of the Sleep Trial
Your sleep trial may begin on the date of purchase or delivery. Some brands require a break-in period of 15-30 days, which allows you to get used to the mattress. You won’t be able to return the mattress for a full refund until this break-in period ends.
We recommend sleeping on the mattress for the entire sleep trial. This gives you as much time as possible to decide if the mattress is right for you, or if you need to keep looking. In most cases, there won’t be any sort of penalty or added fee for keeping the mattress for the whole duration.
Hopefully you’ll be satisfied with your first choice. If not, you can repeat the same process with a different model. Bottom line: thanks to the wide selection of mattresses available online, there’s no reason for you to settle on a bed that doesn’t meet your highest expectations.
