Silk & Snow is a Canada-based bedding company that aims to make luxury sleep products available to everyone at a price they can afford. The company currently sells bed frames, sheets, duvets, a pillow, a mattress protector, a weighted blanket, a silk pillowcase, and two mattress models.
The Silk & Snow Mattress – also known as the S&S – uses three layers of foam to provide a pressure-relieving hug, but these materials also provide more responsiveness compared to other all-foam models on the market. You can choose from two firmness levels, medium or firm, which respectively correspond to 5 and 7 on our 10-point firmness scale. These options ensure most sleepers can rest comfortably on at least one version of the Silk & Snow Mattress regardless of their body type and sleep position.
We’ll delve into the all-foam Silk & Snow Mattress’s construction, sizing, pricing, and performance before breaking down customer reviews and company policies.

Testing Team Takeaways
To test the Silk & Snow Mattress, we had three people on our testing team each take the bed home with them for one week. Here are their initial observations.
Logan Foley
Editorial Director
Side sleeper
140 lbs.
Has too many dogs in bed
“The S&S Mattress has more bounce than other all-foam models we’ve tested – and to me, that’s a good thing. I didn’t feel stuck moving across the mattress when I got in and out of bed, or when I rolled from side to side.”
Brad Nehring
Senior Product Analyst
Side sleeper
215 lbs.
Sleeps with a weighted blanket
“I preferred the firmer version of the S&S. The memory foam provided a nice hug but I never felt like I was sinking too deeply into the mattress.”
Jackson Lindeke
Executive Product Director
Side sleeper
180 lbs.
Showers before bed
“This is a quintessential memory foam mattress in terms of pressure relief and motion isolation, but – like Logan said – there’s also a nice springiness you don’t often find with this type of bed.”

Side Sleepers
The Silk & Snow Mattress is perhaps best suited for side sleepers due to its contouring and pressure relief. The 2-inch memory foam comfort layer lets their hips and shoulders sink in to reduce pressure buildup in these regions, and the polyfoam transition layer and core limit sagging to support proper spinal alignment.
The medium Silk & Snow Mattress should be a good match for side sleepers under 230 pounds. Those who weigh more will likely prefer the added support of the firm model.
Back Sleepers
A back sleeper’s hips can sink into the Silk & Snow’s 2-inch memory foam comfort layer deeply enough to relieve pressure and align the spine. While some mattresses allow a back sleeper’s hips to drag the center of their body too deeply into the bed, the Silk & Snow’s supportive polyfoam transition layer and core curb excessive sagging to prevent spinal strain.
Based on our tests, the medium Silk & Snow may be ideal for back sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds since they should enjoy the best mix of spinal support and contouring. Back sleepers that weigh 130 pounds or more may sink too much into the medium model, and will likely be better off with the firmer design.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers often have the hardest time finding a comfortable mattress since their preferred sleep position typically contributes to aches and pains. This discomfort can be amplified by a mattress that lets the weight of their hips and stomachs pull their midsections too deeply into the bed.
That being said, the medium model may be a good match for stomach sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds. Our tests show the firm model is better suited to stomach sleepers who weigh 130 pounds or more, but some who weigh more than 230 pounds may still find this version of the mattress too soft.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Motion Isolation
8
/ 10
Medium: 8.5 / 10
Firm: 7 / 10
“Both S&S models aced our motion isolation tests. We noticed slightly stronger performance from the softer version, but I doubt either would be problematic for couples.” – Logan
We would expect most all-foam models to isolate motion very well, and both versions of the Silk & Snow Mattress meet this expectation.
The 2-inch memory foam comfort layer absorbs virtually all surface-level vibrations that might otherwise transfer across the mattress and disturb your sleep partner’s slumber. More significant movement may reach the 2-inch polyfoam transition layer, which also isolates motion extremely well.
While the Silk & Snow Mattress should absorb the vast majority of movement, sleepers with partners prone to more rigorous tossing and turning could notice some vibrations.
Pressure Relief
7.5
/ 10
Medium: 8.5 / 10
Firm: 7 / 10
“Pressure relief is on point for the S&S. Our team gave the medium design higher overall marks, but personally I found the firm mattress better equipped to alleviate pressure for my body type.” – Brad
As long as they’re not too firm for the sleeper, all-foam models typically excel in pressure relief. The same holds true of both Silk & Snow Mattress designs, which received high marks in this performance category, but the softer model stood out in particular.
The Silk & Snow Mattress’s exceptional pressure relief comes from its memory foam comfort layer and polyfoam transition layer. A sleeper’s curves can sink into the memory foam, redistributing their weight to limit pressure buildup from critical areas like the hips and shoulders. Meanwhile, the polyfoam transition layer gently supports the sleeper without letting them sink in too deeply.
Temperature Control
5.5
/ 10
Medium: 5 / 10
Firm: 6.5 / 10
“I’m a hot sleeper, so I didn’t love the S&S for temperature control, but it did feel cooler than a lot of the other foam beds we’ve tried out.” – Jackson
Since memory foam is often prone to retaining body heat, many models that contain it don’t earn very high scores for temperature control. While neither Silk & Snow model is as breathable as many innerspring and hybrid models, it regulates temperatures better than many all-foam models on the market.
The cover is breathable enough that air can flow into and out of the sleep surface. Additionally, the medium-density memory foam comfort layer doesn’t trap as much heat as most high-density memory foam, and its gel infusion helps transfer heat away from the sleeper’s body. We also noticed less heat buildup on the firmer version, though there was still some warmth.
Edge Support
6
/ 10
Medium: 5.5 / 10
Firm: 7 / 10
“The firm S&S feels somewhat sturdy along the perimeter, but we all sank at least a bit on the medium model during our edge support tests.” – Logan
When an individual sits or sleeps near the edge of an all-foam bed, their weight typically causes the foam to compress. If the foam compresses excessively, this can make the perimeter of the bed feel unstable and limit how much of the surface a sleeper feels comfortable using.
Like most all-foam models, both Silk & Snow Mattress models lack reinforced edges, allowing sinkage around its perimeter. You’ll notice less compression on the firmer model, but even then there isn’t a lot of reinforcement.
Ease of Movement
6
/ 10
Medium: 5 / 10
Firm: 7 / 10
“I had a hard time moving on both S&S models. Yes, there is a nice bounce you don’t usually find with foam mattresses, but I still felt like I was sinking as I rolled into position and switched from side to side.” – Brad
The hug of memory foam coupled with its relatively slow response to changes in pressure can make a mattress more difficult to move around on. While the Silk & Snow Mattress contains a memory foam layer, it is relatively easy to change position on compared to similarly constructed models.
Because the Silk & Snow uses medium-density memory foam, its comfort layer should regain its shape more quickly than those that use high-density memory foam. This should limit the “trapped in the bed” feel often associated with a lasting body impression – especially on the firm model.
Off-Gassing
5.5
/ 10
“Off-gassing is pretty strong, but temporary. Give this mattress a couple nights in a well-ventilated room and it should smell fine.” – Jackson
The Silk & Snow should off-gas similarly to most all-foam models that ship compressed. Smells may linger from the manufacturing process, and these odors can’t air out when the mattress is compressed and wrapped for shipment.
If you are sensitive to smells, you might prefer to leave your new mattress in another room with good ventilation before use. Most odors should air out within about two days.
The Silk & Snow Mattress is an all-foam model constructed of three layers. Two firmness levels are available, medium (5) and firm (7).
A 2-inch layer of memory foam serves as the comfort layer. This memory foam is medium-density, balancing durability, close-conforming pressure relief, and temperature control. A gel infusion further aids temperature regulation by pulling heat away from the sleeper’s body.
Next, a 2-inch layer of polyfoam enhances the bed’s support and motion isolation while acting as a barrier so that sleepers don’t sink in too hard against the firm core. Finally, a 6-inch polyfoam core gives the sleep surface a sturdy base.
The mattress is wrapped in a polyester and spandex blend cover that stretches to move with the comfort layer. A silver infusion gives the cover anti-microbial properties to help protect against bacterial growth and resulting odors. This cover is also removable and machine washable, and the silver infusion has been tested to hold up after 100 washes.
