Our team at Sleep Foundation conducts extensive hands-on tests for each mattress to provide you with the most reliable, data-driven recommendations and reviews. Below are key guidelines that inform our testing methodology:
Our testers lie on the surface of each mattress to evaluate factors such as contouring and support. We also use specialized tools to measure performance criteria like pressure relief, heat retention, and motion isolation.
We test each mattress using various sleep positions to observe whether a mattress is better suited for side, back, or stomach sleeping. We roll around the surface and sit on the edges to gauge ease of movement and perimeter support.
We have tested hundreds of mattresses and bring years of experience in the mattress industry to the test lab. Our testing team covers a wide range of sleep preferences, sleep positions, and body types. This helps us represent as many sleeper types as possible in our reviews.

PlushBeds is a mattress manufacturer that focuses on making beds using high-quality organic materials. The company has more than a dozen mattresses within its product line and has expanded its offerings to include pillows, bedding, and other sleep accessories.
We’ll cover the Signature Bliss Mattress, which is one of PlushBeds’ luxury pillow-top mattresses, and provide details on both the medium soft and medium firm options that are available to customers.
Our team thoroughly examined this mattress and tested it in person to determine how well it works and who should consider buying one. We looked at metrics like temperature regulation, responsiveness, and pressure relief, and reported how each model performed during trials. Our team members also used the mattress personally and detailed whether or not they felt supported while sleeping on each model.

Testing Team Takeaways
To test the PlushBeds Signature Bliss Mattress, we had three people on our testing team each take the bed home with them for one week. Here are their initial observations.
Logan Foley
Editorial Director
140 lbs.
Side sleeper
Has too many dogs in the bed
The PlushBeds Signature Bliss is really bouncy compared to foam mattresses we’ve tested. This has pros and cons. On the one hand, I can move on the mattress without feeling stuck, but this also means more motion transfer if you share your bed with someone else.
Brad Nehring
Senior Product Analyst
215 lbs.
Side and back sleeper
Sleeps with a weighted blanket
Echoing what Logan said, I enjoy the feel of latex but get that it isn’t ideal for everyone. One thing I really like about the Signature Bliss is how cool it sleeps. There’s virtually no heat retention and the cover is very breathable. As someone who sleeps hot on foam, this mattress gets a big thumbs up from me.
Jackson Lindeke
Executive Product Director
180 lbs.
Side sleeper
Showers before bed
I’m team latex all the way, so not surprisingly I was a big fan of the Signature Bliss. There’s this nice, gentle cushion that, for me, is a good alternative to the hug of foam.

Side Sleepers
Side sleepers should find the Signature Bliss Mattress an excellent fit, no matter their body type. Its latex pillow-top and zoned support system offer the deep cushioning and spinal alignment that side sleepers need to prevent pressure points from developing. There’s extra support under the hips and a bit more give under the shoulders, which ensure that side sleepers’ spines stay evenly supported from head to toe.
The side sleepers on our team who weigh under 130 pounds gave the medium soft mattress the highest possible score, as it has the right blend of cushioning and support for their needs. Those between 130 pounds and 230 pounds also liked the medium soft model, but found the medium firm’s enhanced support to be a better fit. Sleepers above 230 pounds enjoyed the medium firm model best because it provides better support for their weight.
Back Sleepers
If you sleep on your back, it’s best to have a mattress that supports your spine while cushioning your lower back. The Signature Bliss’ blend of latex and coils achieves this balance, though our team reported differences between the two firmness levels.
Overall, the back sleepers on our product testing team enjoyed this mattress, though it performed best for sleepers weighing under 230 pounds. Our testers under 130 pounds liked the medium soft and medium firm models equally and gave them both top marks. The medium firm model is a better fit for back sleepers who weigh more than 130 pounds because it has a bit more support to keep back sleepers’ spines from falling out of alignment.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers need an even sleeping surface with plenty of support in order to prevent their midsection from sinking into the mattress. A mattress that’s too soft can cause backaches while one that’s too firm may aggravate pressure points.
The medium firm model performed best for stomach sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds, though people outside that particular weight group still received adequate support. Our testing found the medium soft version did not provide enough support for those above 130 pounds. Both models are adequate for stomach sleepers under 130 pounds, but they still don’t achieve the perfect blend of support and slight cushioning that stomach sleepers typically prefer.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Motion Isolation
6.5/10
Medium: 7 / 10
Medium Firm: 6 / 10
“Motion isolation is less than ideal. The latex is responsive enough on its own, but the coils make the surface even bouncier. You and your partner will probably notice some motion transfer when the other person moves in bed.” – Brad
During our testing, we determined that both firmness options allow motion to transfer from one side of the mattress to the other, but the medium soft model is a bit better at isolating motion than the medium firm model.
The support core’s pocketed coils move separately from one another which cuts down on motion transfer a bit, but the latex comfort system doesn’t absorb enough movement to completely isolate motion.
As a result, this bed is best suited for people who don’t wake easily from their partner’s movements and for those who sleep solo.
Pressure Relief
7/10
Medium: 8 / 10
Medium Firm: 6 / 10
“The Signature Bliss provides decent cushioning but won’t contour as closely as a mattress with foam layers. If pressure relief is a priority, the medium soft model offers more contouring and better spinal alignment than the medium firm.” – Jackson
This mattress uses latex and a zoned support system to help relieve pressure point discomfort. There are five sections within the pocketed coil support core that each compress at different rates. This feature ensures that you get strong support where you need it, and enhanced cushioning beneath pressure-prone areas.
Latex is an excellent pressure reliever that absorbs impact and helps to evenly disperse weight. We found the medium soft model’s softer formulation is a bit better at alleviating sore spots than the medium firm mattress.
Temperature Control
9/10
Medium: 8.5 / 10
Medium Firm: 9 / 10
“Temperature control is definitely one area where this mattress shines. The hole-punched latex paired with a breathable cover means plenty of airflow inside and out. Hot sleepers should get the cooling they need from the Signature Bliss.” – Logan
Hybrid mattresses are often better at controlling temperature than foam mattresses because they allow air to flow through the support core rather than trapping body heat within its layers. This hybrid mattress also incorporates latex and wool, which are both well-known for their temperature regulation.
The Signature Bliss Mattress’ medium firm model offers above-average temperature control, while the medium soft has a solid performance. If you’re a hot sleeper or live in a warm climate, you may want to opt for the medium firm option. Those who don’t tend to overheat while sleeping should find the medium soft model adequate.
Edge Support
8/10
Medium: 7 / 10
Medium Firm: 9 / 10
“Edge support is another major strength of this mattress, especially with the medium firm model. You’ll feel strong pushback when you sit along the perimeter, so getting in and out of bed is a breeze.” – Brad
The Signature Bliss has a reinforced perimeter that’s engineered to provide excellent support at the mattress’ edge. Stronger coils wrap around the mattress to help provide an even sleep surface that extends from edge to edge.
During our testing, we noticed that the medium firm model withstood direct compression better than the medium soft mattress did. People who sleep at the mattress’ edge and those with mobility issues may prefer the firmer model’s stronger perimeter.
Ease of Movement
8.5/10
Medium: 7.5 / 10
Medium Firm: 9 / 10
“Most of our team had little to no trouble moving on the Signature Bliss. Even the softer model is pretty responsive, so you shouldn’t feel stuck or trapped when getting into bed or changing positions.” – Jackson
Our product testers reported that both models are quite easy to move on and gave them high scores for ease of movement. The combination of pocketed coils and latex provide the bed with a buoyant quality that gives you the feeling that you’re sleeping “on” rather than “in” this mattress.
The medium firm model has a slight edge over the medium soft because its firmer coils don’t compress as easily, but both beds are top-notch choices if you’re looking for a responsive mattress.
Off-Gassing
9/10
“Off-gassing isn’t an issue with the Signature Bliss because there aren’t any foam layers. There is a noticeable smell from the latex, but I didn’t notice any odor a few hours after we unboxed the mattress.” – Logan
Mattresses that incorporate foam off-gas, which means they emit trace chemicals that can have an unpleasant odor.
The Signature Bliss Mattress doesn’t have any foam within its construction, which prevents it from having a chemical-like smell. Sensitive populations may notice a bit of an odor, but it’s quite faint and shouldn’t affect most users.

The PlushBeds Signature Bliss Mattress is a hybrid mattress that’s available in two firmness levels. You can opt for a medium soft or medium firm surface, which respectively rank as 4 and 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale. While the exact material formulations vary a bit depending on which model you choose, they share the same basic construction and feature numerous organic materials.
The mattress has an organic cotton cover that’s Global Organic Textile Standard-certified and knit using an innovative pattern that’s designed to enhance both airflow and pressure relief. Between the cover and comfort system, there’s a layer of GOTS-certified organic wool that acts as a fire barrier and temperature regulator.
The comfort system is a pillow-top that’s crafted from Global Organic Latex Standard-certified dunlop latex. It’s meant to relieve pressure points while creating a buoyant and responsive sleep surface. The pillow-top rests on a pocketed coil support core that has enhanced perimeter reinforcement. Five zones within the support core provide different levels of support to better align the spine and ease pressure point pain.
There are heavy-duty handles sewn into the mattress cover to make moving the bed a bit easier. The Signature Bliss Mattress measures 15 inches tall and is available in seven sizes. Apart from the two available firmness options, there are no customizable features available.
