OkiOki is a California-based company that specializes in producing quality products for fair prices. In addition to mattresses, the company sells foundations, furniture, a mattress protector, and a pillow.

Since sleepers have different needs and preferences, OkiOki’s mattress line includes four models with unique builds and feels to accommodate a wide range of sleep styles. The company produces two all-foam models, the OkiSoft and the OkiFirm, and two hybrid models, the OkiEasy and the OkiFlex.

The OkiEasy has a medium firm feel, rating at 6 on the 10-point firmness scale. While this is on the firmer end of the average range most sleepers prefer, it is OkiOki’s second softest model. It uses a hybrid construction with a memory foam comfort layer, a polyfoam transition layer, a coil core, and a polyfoam base. Like all of OkiOki’s mattress models, it falls below the average price point for similarly constructed mattresses.

We’ll detail the OkiEasy’s construction, pricing, sizing, performance, and who this model may be best for. We’ll also summarize company policies to give you a more comprehensive idea of what to expect.

Side Sleepers

Since people tend to be wider around their hips and shoulders, these parts of a side sleeper typically put more force on a mattress, which can lead to pressure buildup. Contouring helps relieve this pressure by redistributing the sleeper’s weight. The OkiEasy’s 2-inch memory foam comfort layer and 2.5-inch polyfoam transition layer cushion and cradle a side sleeper’s curves, so they shouldn’t experience the sharp pressure points this sleep position can cause.

Of all sleep positions and weight groups, the OkiEasy’s construction combined with its medium firm feel is perhaps best suited to side sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds. These sleepers should get balanced support and contouring to keep their spines well-aligned while limiting pressure buildup.

Other weight groups of side sleepers will also likely sleep comfortably on the OkiEasy, but sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds could experience more pressure, and those who weigh over 230 pounds may have a harder time maintaining their spinal alignment.

Back Sleepers

Spinal alignment is usually the main concern of back sleepers. To support their natural spinal alignment, back sleepers typically look for a mattress that lets their hips dip in just a bit while limiting excessive sagging. The OkiEasy Mattress is both soft and supportive, making it moderately conducive to back sleeping. A soft 2-inch memory foam comfort layer cradles the hips, while the firmer 2.5-inch transition layer and the sturdy pocketed coil core restrict excessive sinkage.

The OkiEasy’s medium firm feel may be most appropriate for back sleepers who weigh under 230 pounds. Sleepers in this weight range should get enough support for good spinal alignment, but the thicker comfort and transition layers could allow the hips of some individuals to sink in a bit more than ideal. Back sleepers who weigh over 230 pounds may experience more significant sagging around their hips, which could put a strain on their spines.

Stomach Sleepers

The heaviest and widest parts of the body typically dip into the mattress more deeply. Since most people carry much of their weight around their hips and bellies, sleeping on the stomach can allow this weight to pull the sleeper’s middle more deeply into the mattress and put pressure on their lumbar region. The OkiEasy’s memory foam comfort layer provides cushioning and contouring for stomach sleepers, while its polyfoam transition layer and coil core limit midsection sagging.

Thanks to its medium firm feel, the OkiEasy is likely to be most comfortable for stomach sleepers who weigh under 230 pounds. Most of these sleepers should enjoy good support and a bit of plushness, but those who carry extra weight around their hips and bellies could notice some sinkage around their midsections. Stomach sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds may not get enough support to prevent the middles of their bodies from dipping too deeply into the mattress and putting their spines out of alignment.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

6.5 / 10

The OkiEasy’s soft 2-inch memory foam comfort layer and 2.5-inch polyfoam transition layer absorb most surface-level vibrations that might otherwise transfer across the bed.

Like most hybrid models, however, the bounce of the coil core can contribute to slight motion transfer when one partner moves around on the bed more aggressively. But since the coils are individually pocketed, limited vibrations should travel between them.

The OkiEasy’s combination of motion absorbing foam and pocketed coils should isolate enough motion to satisfy most sleepers who share their bed with a partner.

Pressure Relief

7.5 / 10

Thanks to its generous comfort and transition layers, pressure relief is one of the OkiEasy Mattress’s greatest strengths. The comfort layer consists of 2 inches of soft memory foam, while the transition layer uses 2.5 inches of medium polyfoam. These two layers work together to shape to a sleeper’s body and spread their weight more evenly across the surface to limit pressure buildup.

This gives the OkiEasy similar pressure-relieving properties to other hybrid models with ample comfort and transition layers, but it may relieve pressure to a more significant extent than some models with thinner comfort systems.

Ultimately, the amount of pressure relief a sleeper experiences will also depend on their weight and sleep position. Due to its medium firm feel, side sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds will likely experience the most outstanding pressure relief when sleeping on the OkiEasy Mattress.

Temperature Control

6 / 10

While the OkiEasy Mattress has notable temperature control, it may not sleep as cool as some hybrid mattresses because there are some exceptionally cool models on the market. However, the OkiEasy Mattress should regulate temperatures enough to satisfy most sleepers.

The temperature control starts with the mattress cover, which is made of cool-to-the-touch Ice Yarn. Memory foam makes up the comfort layer. This material has a reputation for trapping heat, but the OkiEasy uses low-density memory foam, which is typically more breathable. Air can also flow through the coil core, allowing heat to dissipate away from the sleep surface.

Edge Support

6.5 / 10

Hybrid models often have reinforced edges that give the perimeter of the bed a more supportive feel. The OkiEasy’s edge is also reinforced, earning it similar marks to other hybrid mattresses in this performance category.

Polyfoam encasing wraps around the perimeter of the OkiEasy’s spring layer. This polyfoam is high-density, giving it a firm and supportive feel. Most sleepers should be able to use the full mattress surface, including sitting and sleeping on the edge of the bed. However, some individuals who weigh more than 230 pounds may notice more edge sinkage.

Ease of Movement

5.5 / 10

Compared to other hybrid models, the OkiEasy Mattress is moderately easy to move on.

Sleepers can sink relatively deeply into the comfort and transition layer, and this hug could feel restrictive to some individuals. However, the OkiEasy uses low-density memory foam in its comfort layer, so the bed should spring back to its original shape relatively quickly when the sleeper moves. The coil core also adds bounce and responsiveness so that sleepers are unlikely to feel trapped in the bed.

Off-Gassing

6 / 10

While any new mattress may retain manufacturing odors, hybrid models tend to air out relatively quickly because of their breathable designs.

The OkiEasy follows this trend. It contains synthetic foam and ships compressed, so there may be an initial smell trapped in the mattress that is released as it decompresses. If left in a well-ventilated space, most odors should air out within two days.

Experts typically consider off-gassing odors harmless, but people who are sensitive to smells might choose to leave their mattress in another room with good air circulation until the smells dissipate.

OkiEasy Mattress Review Breakdown

The OkiEasy is a medium firm hybrid model that rates at a 6 on the standard 10-point firmness scale.

This model is made up of four layers. The comfort layer consists of 2 inches of memory foam that molds to the sleeper’s body to relieve pressure buildup. It is low-density memory foam, so it should regain its shape relatively quickly when the sleeper changes positions.

Next, a 2.5-inch layer of polyfoam serves as the transition layer, acting as a barrier between the soft memory foam comfort layer and the firmer coil core.

The core uses 5.5 inches of pocketed coils, which give the bed support, responsiveness, and breathability. Since each coil is pocketed, little motion transfers between individual springs. A layer of firm polyfoam wraps around the outside of the spring system to give the edge a sturdy feel. Finally, a 1-inch base layer of polyfoam provides an even surface for the springs to rest on.

A hypoallergenic cover encases the bed. This cover is constructed of OkiOki’s Ice Yarn, which makes the surface of the bed cool to the touch. Owners can remove the cover and wash it in a machine to freshen up the surface of the bed.

The OkiEasy Mattress uses foams that are CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX certified for safety standards.
