The Sparrow has better pressure-relieving properties than many hybrid models. Memory foam quilted into the cover gives surface-level cushioning and contouring, while the 3-inch polyfoam comfort layer gives deeper cradling. This is a high-density polyfoam, so it conforms more closely to the body than lower-density polyfoam, redistributing the sleeper’s weight to take excess pressure off of the shoulders and hips.
While all three firmness options can help relieve pressure points, which firmness offers the best pressure relief will vary based on the sleeper’s weight. Sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds may get the best pressure relief from the Plush or Medium versions of the mattress. Those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds are likely to experience the best balance of pressure relief and support from the Medium or Luxury Firm options. Individuals who weigh more than 230 pounds should get exceptional pressure relief coupled with even support from the Luxury Firm version of the Sparrow.

Established in 2011, Nest Bedding is one of the early innovators in the boxed mattress movement that transformed the industry into what it is today. The company produces a wide range of products for the bedroom, including bed frames, foundations, nightstands, pet beds, sleepwear, pillows, sheets, blankets, toppers, and mattresses.
Nest Bedding’s mattress lineup include the Puffin, the Quail, the Owl, the Finch, the Certified Organic Hybrid Latex, and the Sparrow. The Puffin is an all-foam mattress for children. The Quail is an all-foam model, the Owl and the Certified Organic Hybrid Latex mattresses couple latex and coils, while the Finch is a latex model.
The Nest Bedding Sparrow – previously known as the Alexander Signature Hybrid – is a hybrid model that combines foam and coils. It is available in three firmness options, including Plush, Medium, and Luxury Firm. On the 10-point firmness scale, these models rate at 3 (soft), 5 (medium), and 7 (firm) respectively. At 12 inches thick, the Sparrow is a high-profile model, so it may need extra deep sheets.
This review will focus exclusively on the Sparrow. It will cover the mattress’s construction, pricing, size options, performance, customer reviews, and policies. We’ll also highlight some of the most significant differences between the three firmness options to help you decide which might be best for you.

Answer a few questions to find the right mattress for your unique needs
Sleeping Style and Body Weight
Side Sleepers
Since people tend to be widest near their hips and shoulders, these areas usually put the most force on a mattress when an individual sleeps on their side. This can contribute to sharp pressure points. The Sparrow’s high-density polyfoam comfort layer hugs to a side sleeper’s curves to spread out their weight more evenly and relieve pressure buildup from their hips and shoulders. Memory foam quilted into the cover provides additional cushioning.
A side sleeper’s weight will influence how firm the mattress feels to them and how much pressure relief and spinal support they experience. Side sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds may prefer the Plush or Medium version of the mattress. Either option should provide both pressure relief and support, so which option is best may depend on personal firmness preferences.
Those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds and sleep on their sides are likely to prefer the Medium version of the mattress. Side sleepers who weigh over 230 pounds may need the extra support from the Luxury Firm version of the mattress to keep their spines well aligned.
Back Sleepers
Sleeping on the back tends to keep the spine relatively well-aligned, so back sleepers generally need an even mattress that supports their natural alignment. Sagging around the hips is one of the most common problems that back sleepers encounter. The Sparrow’s quilted memory foam cover and its polyfoam comfort layer adjust to the shape of the sleeper, while the polyfoam transition layer and coil core limit sinkage. Each firmness option may be appropriate for back sleepers in certain weight ranges.
Back sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds are likely to prefer the Plush or Medium options, which can give them the support they need and extra contouring. Those who weigh over 130 pounds may experience sinkage around their hips on the Plush version, which could put a strain on their spines. Because of this, most back sleepers who weigh over 130 may favor the Luxury Firm option for its even support.
Stomach Sleepers
Extra weight around a stomach sleeper’s belly and hips can cause their midsection to sink into the mattress more deeply than the rest of their body, putting a strain on their spine. The most comfortable mattress for stomach sleepers usually combines support and cushioning. Its quilted cover and polyfoam comfort layer give the Sparrow good cushioning, while its high-density polyfoam transition layer and pocketed coil core help support a stomach sleeper’s spinal alignment.
The Medium version of the Sparrow may be best suited for stomach sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds, combining even support and gentle cushioning. Stomach sleepers who weigh more than 130 pounds may prefer the added support of the Luxury Firm option, which gives some contouring without as much sinkage.

Nest Bedding Sparrow Mattress Review Breakdown
The Sparrow comes in three firmness options: Plush, Medium, and Luxury Firm. These feels equate to soft (3), medium (5), and firm (7). Additionally, the king and California king sizes are available with an internal split and different firmnesses on each side of the bed.
A cover with Thermic Phase Change fabric encases the mattress. This soft-to-the-touch material is engineered to regulate the temperature of the mattress surface to promote a cooler night’s sleep. A 1-inch layer of 4 pounds per cubic foot (PCF) memory foam is quilted into the cover to give the surface a plusher feel. This higher-density memory foam contours to the body and responds slowly to pressure, making it great for pressure relief. A gel infusion in this layer helps cool the surface by wicking away heat.
Next, a 3-inch layer of 2.8 PCF Energex foam acts as the comfort layer. This proprietary polyfoam is crafted to provide supportive contouring and respond quickly when the sleeper changes position. Its high density lends to its durability and pressure relief. The transition layer uses 1 inch of polyfoam to separate the softer comfort system from the firmer core.
The core consists of 16-gauge Quantum Edge pocketed coils. Pocketed coils can move independently of each other, limiting the spread of vibrations across the layer. This layer also adds to the bed’s bounce and breathability. The base of the mattress is a 1-inch layer of polyfoam.

Nest Bedding can ship the mattress to all 50 states. International shipping is also available through a third-party vendor.
Shipping is free within the contiguous United States and carries an extra charge for shipments to Alaska and Hawaii.
Nest Bedding ships the Sparrow through FedEx or UPS. Most mattresses go out 1-3 business days after the order is placed. A tracking number is provided when the mattress ships. Customers can generally expect to receive their mattress within 4-8 business days of placing their order, though shipping to the East Coast may take an additional 1-2 business days.
The Sparrow is compressed and rolled for shipment. Two layers of plastic wrapping encase the bed. Nest Bedding recommends cutting the outer layer of plastic with scissors first. Then, they suggest cutting small holes near the edges of the inner layer so that air starts to enter the mattress before you remove this plastic layer. Customers should unpackage their mattresses within 30 days to ensure it expands properly. Leaving the mattress compressed longer than this may risk warranty infringement.
White Glove delivery is available for an extra charge. If you want to select White Glove delivery, contact one of Nest Bedding’s stores and place your order over the phone. The delivery team will schedule a day or time to bring in your mattress. They will bring in your new mattress, set it up, and remove the packaging.
Nest Bedding offers a 365-night sleep trial for the Sparrow. This trial begins the date the mattress is delivered, and customers are expected to try their mattress for at least 30 nights before initiating a return. Returns initiated before the 30-night mark will be assessed a 25% restocking fee.
If the customer chooses to return the mattress and it is still in good condition, they can arrange the return through Nest Bedding for a full refund of the purchase price. Nest Bedding will provide an option for mattress pickup, donation, or disposal. The return process must be completed 30 days after Nest Bedding approves the return.
The Sparrow also comes with a Lifetime Comfort Guarantee, which allows qualifying customers to purchase a new mattress at 30 percent off.
The Sparrow comes with a lifetime limited warranty.
Covered defects include sagging greater than 1 inch, manufacturing flaws in the cover zipper, and physical flaws in the cover.
To be eligible for the warranty, the claimant must be the original owner who purchased the bed from an authorized seller. The mattress must have been decompressed within 30 days of its arrival. Damage cannot be the result of an improper foundation, misuse of the mattress, or normal wear and tear.
If Nest Bedding determines the mattress is defective, it will repair or replace it. Additional terms and conditions apply.
In addition to the warranty, Nest Bedding also offers the Lifetime Renewal Exchange program. This enables Sparrow owners to swap out the comfort layer of their mattress for a fresh layer at any point, even years after the initial purchase. You can also exchange the comfort layer if you find the mattress too firm or too soft.
