Historically, Nectar has specialized in memory foam mattresses. Their flagship Nectar Mattress remains the brand’s most affordable and best-selling foam mattress. Shoppers seeking additional luxury features might consider the Nectar Premier. While both models vary in height, they each have a versatile medium firm (6) feel.

Nectar recently expanded its repertoire to include three hybrid mattresses. The Classic Hybrid, Premier, and Luxe Hybrid all combine memory foam comfort systems with coil-based support systems. Unlike Nectar’s foam models, the hybrids feature a plush quilted cover with an antimicrobial sealant. While the Classic has the most accessible sticker tag, the Premier and Luxe hybrids have thicker comfort systems and additional cooling features.

We’ll focus on the Nectar Premier Hybrid, discussing how the mattress’ materials and layout affect its comfort and support. We’ll also review how the model performs for different sleep positions and body weights.

Side Sleepers

Side sleepers usually prefer a plush mattress that contours closely to the body. Although a firm (7) feel is sometimes too firm for side sleepers, we found that the Premier Hybrid eases tension for side sleepers in all weight groups. Our testers reported that the memory foam cradles the hips and shoulders, while the high-density polyfoam supports good spine alignment. The mattress is an especially good fit for side sleepers over 230 pounds, as they don’t require as much contouring.

Back Sleepers

Our tests showed that the Premier Hybrid helps back sleepers maintain good spinal alignment. Sturdy coils and a firm feel limit sagging below the torso area, while the shoulders and legs are allowed to sink more. This mattress model is a solid choice for back sleepers over 130 pounds who usually experience excess sagging on all-foam mattresses.

Stomach Sleepers

Similar to back sleepers, our testers who sleep on their stomach found that the mattress’ firm feel provided good support. The pocketed coils and high-density polyfoam minimize sinkage beneath the midsection, helping the spine stay neutral. Additionally, the responsive memory foam alleviates pressure points on the shoulders, hips, and knees.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

7.5 / 10

The Nectar Premier Hybrid isolates motion slightly better than the typical hybrid. Memory foam and polyfoam layers act as shock absorbers for the springs, preventing movement from reverberating across the surface. Couples are therefore less likely to notice when their partner moves.

Any mattress with springs will generate some degree of motion transfer. High-movement sleepers and those over 230 pounds may notice more motion disturbance on the Premier Hybrid. Co-sleepers who are easily awakened may want to consider one of Nectar’s all-foam models, which offer superior motion isolation.

Pressure Relief

8 / 10

While some firm mattresses can feel uncomfortably rigid, the Premier Hybrid balances comfort with support.

The memory foam comfort layer eases pressure points at the hips and shoulders, while the high-density polyfoam reduces tension by evenly distributing body weight across the mattress.

Additionally, the firm (7) surface minimizes the kind of deep sinkage that can distort spine alignment. This is especially true for stomach and back sleepers, who usually need extra support beneath the torso area.

While side sleepers generally prefer a softer surface, we found that the mattress’ substantial comfort system still relieves pressure on the hips and shoulders for these sleepers.

Temperature Control

7.5 / 10

The Premier Hybrid’s pocketed coil core encourages airflow, while its gel infusions and phase change material are designed to remove excess heat. A breathable cover helps keep the surface cool and dry.

The mattress’ firm and responsive surface doesn’t permit the deep sinkage that often leads to uncomfortable heat buildup. For sleepers who usually overheat on memory foam mattresses, the Premier Hybrid can be a cooler alternative.

Edge Support

7 / 10

Robust edge support on the Premier Hybrid means that co-sleepers can use more of the mattress’ surface area.

The perimeter is reinforced with sturdier coils, which minimizes sagging along the sides. High-density polyfoam also reduces sinkage near the edges of the mattress.

Sleepers over 230 pounds and anyone who likes to sit up in bed can benefit from strong edge support. Getting in and out of bed is also easier when the sides don’t compress as much.

Ease of Movement

7 / 10

With its coiled core and firm feel, it’s not surprising that the Premier Hybrid rates highly in this category. Our testers noted that the comfort system doesn’t conform to the body as closely as other types of memory foam. This is good for people who frequently change sleep positions since they tend to benefit from a springier surface.

Sleepers over 230 pounds tend to sink into a mattress more, which is why they often find movement more challenging on all-foam models. This shouldn’t be the case with the Premier Hybrid, though, as the firm feel and solid core keep sleepers on top of the mattress.

Off-Gassing

7.5 / 10

Off-gassing odors are caused by volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are tiny particles found in foam and other mattress materials. Off-gassing isn’t thought to be harmful, but some people are sensitive to the smell.

The Premier Hybrid uses CertiPUR-US certified foams, which indicates relatively low VOC emissions. Off-gassing odors are very minimal and should dissipate within 24 to 48 hours of the mattress being unrolled.

Nectar Premier Hybrid Mattress Review Breakdown

Nectar’s Premier Hybrid features five distinct layers. The soft and breathable quilted cover is fitted with handles for convenient carrying. The cover is treated with Microban, which is designed to reduce microbial growth.

The comfort system starts with a 1-inch layer of pressure-relieving memory foam. The foam incorporates gel infusions and phase change material, which are designed to dissipate excess heat. Next, a 2-inch layer of high-density polyfoam supports neutral spine alignment by preventing sinkage. A transitional polyfoam layer spreads body weight across the mattress and buffers sleepers from the sturdy steel coils.

The support system uses 8 inches of pocketed coils to stabilize the mattress. Each pocketed coil moves independently, so movement is less likely to ripple across the surface. The added bounce helps ensure that sleepers don’t feel “stuck” inside the memory foam. Reinforced edges are intended to prevent excess sagging along the sides. A final polyfoam layer helps keep the mattress firmly grounded.

The mattress’ firm (7) feel is designed to support all sleep positions.
