Testing Team Takeaways
To test the Nectar Classic Hybrid Mattress, we had three people on our testing team each take the bed home with them for one week. Here are their initial observations.

Side sleeper
140 pounds
Has too many dogs in the bed
I found the Nectar Classic Hybrid to be a bit firmer than I prefer, but it felt supportive enough for me to avoid waking up with back or joint pain.
Brad Nehring
Senior Product Analyst
Side sleeper
215 pounds
Sleeps with a weighted blanket
What I liked most about the Nectar Classic Hybrid was its temperature neutrality. Unlike some mattresses with memory foam, it’s not suffocating. In fact, it slept surprisingly cool.

Back sleeper
165 pounds
Dunks head in ice water to wake up
The design and firmness of the Nectar Classic Hybrid worked well for me as a back sleeper. The coils and polyfoam kept my body in a neutral position, and the memory foam lightly cushioned my lumbar spine.

Side Sleepers
Among side sleepers in our Test Lab, those who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds were the biggest fans of the Nectar Classic Hybrid. They valued the hybrid’s mix of cushioning and bounce, which gently hugged the hips and shoulders without an overwhelming amount of sink.
Side sleepers under 130 pounds were satisfied with the support they received from the Nectar Classic Hybrid but felt that a slightly softer surface would have been more comfortable. Those over 230 pounds liked the firmness but felt that the memory foam layer was a bit too thin to fully relieve pressure in key areas.
Back Sleepers
During our testing, back sleepers of all weights were pleased with the supportiveness of the Nectar Classic Hybrid. The highest marks came from back sleepers under 230 pounds.
Back sleepers typically like a mattress that is firm enough to keep their body aligned but with just enough cushioning to accommodate the lower back. We found that the Nectar Classic Hybrid met their needs, offering the right blend of firmness, pressure relief, and pushback.
Some back sleepers over 230 pounds said that the mattress was a touch too soft, but they appreciated that there still wasn’t exaggerated sinkage into the foams.
Stomach Sleepers
We didn’t find the Nectar Classic Hybrid to be a hit among stomach sleepers, but it did get a quality review from those under 130 pounds. These sleepers were able to maintain a neutral spine position without pushing too far into the top layers of the mattress.
In contrast, stomach sleepers over 130 pounds were put off by even the relatively light contouring of the memory foam and the way that their midsection sagged into the mattress. Among our testers, those over 230 pounds were most prone to experiencing these issues.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Motion Isolation
7
/ 10
“You might expect top-tier motion isolation from the memory foam, but since it’s only a thin layer, you actually feel a good bit of vibration from movement on the other side of the bed.” – Brad
Our testing team found that there can be quite a bit of motion transfer on the Nectar Classic Hybrid. The layer of memory foam prevents it from being especially disruptive, but you can feel it when there’s movement on another part of the mattress.
Based on our findings, this mattress should be fine for most couples, but it may lead to more awakenings for people who are easily stirred awake or who have a bed partner who is frequently tossing and turning.
Pressure Relief
7
/ 10
“Pressure relief is good on the Nectar Classic Hybrid, but you don’t get deep contouring around your joints. The pressure relief from this mattress is best for people who want a more gentle hug.” – Logan
The Nectar Classic Hybrid offers an average level of pressure relief that is best suited to sleepers who want light cushioning.
Unlike some mattresses with memory foam, there is limited sinkage on the Nectar Classic Hybrid. For some sleepers, that’s a selling point, but for those who want deep hug, this mattress isn’t the best fit.
Temperature Control
8
/ 10
“Normally, when you hear memory foam, you worry about overheating. But that wasn’t the case at all on the Nectar Classic Hybrid. I didn’t feel much heat buildup at all.” – Danny
Members of our testing team were impressed by their ability to sleep cool on the Nectar Classic Hybrid.
The cover enhances breathability, and airflow through the coils helps dissipate heat. Because there’s not too much sink, heat doesn’t get trapped against your body or collect in the memory foam.
Edge Support
8
/ 10
“This mattress offers steady edge support. There is a bit of foam compression near the edge, but I still found it easy to sleep securely near the perimeter.” – Logan
Our tests found above-average edge support on the Nectar Classic Hybrid.
The sturdy coils provide a baseline of edge support that is supplemented by the 2-inch layer of responsive polyfoam. Although the memory foam compresses near the perimeter, that layer is only 1 inch thick, so the compression doesn’t feel unstable.
Ease of Movement
7.5
/ 10
“It was unexpectedly easy to move on top of this mattress. While I could feel a light hug from the memory foam, there was enough bounce to enable me to quickly turn onto my other side.” – Brad
Most sleepers in our testing found that they could move relatively easily on the Nectar Classic Hybrid. The springiness of the coils prevents the memory foam from restricting movement.
As a result, we found that this mattress can meet the needs of most combination sleepers. However, people who weigh over 230 pounds may sink more deeply into the foam layers and encounter more difficulty when trying to change their position in bed.
Off-Gassing
7
/ 10
“There was a perceptible smell when I unboxed the Nectar Classic Hybrid, but I found it to be short-lived. It went away in less than 48 hours.” – Danny
We detected only light off-gassing from the Nectar Classic Hybrid.
Off-gassing is caused by foam materials, but there are only 4 total inches of foam in the Nectar Classic Hybrid. There’s no health risk from the smell, and it should dissipate within a few days after you first open the packaging.
The Nectar Classic Hybrid has a straightforward hybrid mattress design intended to provide comfort and support through a combination of foam layers and innerspring coils. It measures 12 inches tall and has a firmness level of firm (7).
The cover is made with a polyester blend designed for extra breathability to keep it cool to the touch. The fabric features an antimicrobial treatment to prevent germ buildup.
The top interior layer is made with 1 inch of memory foam. It contours to match the body’s main pressure points. The next layer is 2 inches of an adaptive polyfoam. The combination of the thin memory foam layer and the responsive polyfoam prevents excessive sinkage into the mattress.
The support core is made primarily with an 8-inch layer of pocketed innerspring coils. The individually wrapped design gives each coil more independent mobility for enhanced pressure relief. The coils are also reinforced around the perimeter. Beneath the coils is a 1-inch layer of polyfoam for extra stability.
