As Minocasa’s only mattress, the Minocasa Mino Hybrid highlights the U.S.-based company’s focus on quality materials at affordable prices. This 12-inch thick, medium firm (6) hybrid mattress incorporates a memory foam comfort layer, two layers of polyfoam, and a pocketed coil support core surrounded by a Tencel cover. To verify the materials are free of potentially harmful substances, the fabric holds OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, and the foam is certified by CertiPUR-US.

A three-layer comfort system and zoned support core help most side and back sleepers maintain a neutral position without pressure buildup. This combination also effectively minimizes motion transfer to accommodate partners easily disturbed by each other’s movements.

We’ll discuss the Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress, breaking down its materials, performance, and price. We’ll also look at who might benefit most from this model to help you determine if it’s right for you.

Side Sleepers

Regardless of weight, most side sleepers experience a balance of pressure relief and support from the Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress. Its medium firm (6) feel lets the hips and shoulders sink in deeply enough to promote good posture.

The memory foam comfort layer molds closely to the body, helping to reduce pressure points. Underneath, the supportive polyfoam layers evenly distribute weight and prevent excessive sinkage. They also serve as a buffer between the comfort layer and the support core, preventing the hips and shoulders from sinking against the firm core. Additionally, the coil core uses five firmness zones for targeted support and softness intended to enhance pressure relief and spinal support.

While best suited for side sleepers under 230 pounds, our testers over 230 pounds also found the Mino Hybrid comfortable.

Back Sleepers

The Mino Hybrid’s plush sleep surface and supportive core are optimal for back sleepers who weigh up to 230 pounds.

Our testers found that the memory foam cradled their hips and gently cushioned their lower backs. The pressure-relieving polyfoam layers and the zoned coil core limit sinkage around the hips to encourage healthy posture. The center of the coil system provides extra pushback, which may be particularly beneficial for back sleepers in need of additional lumbar support.

For those over 230 pounds, the mattress is unlikely to offer optimal support. Testers in this weight range were unable to maintain comfortable spinal alignment due to their hips sinking too much into the bed.

Stomach Sleepers

Because stomach sleepers typically require a firmer surface, only testers under 130 pounds fared well on the Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress. Stomach sleepers in this weight group noticed the foam layers cushioned their bodies and the mattress’ support core provided adequate support to their midsections.

Stomach sleepers who weigh 130 pounds or more generally need a firmer mattress to maintain good spinal alignment. Our testers in this weight group found their midsections dipped too far into the bed, causing their spines to bend into a U shape. This can put stress on the lower back, leading to tension and soreness.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

6.5 / 10

The Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress scored well on our motion isolation tests thanks to its memory foam top comfort layer and two underlying polyfoam layers. Our testers noticed the vibrations that reached the pocketed coil core also didn’t travel too much since the springs move independently of each other.

We experienced minimal motion transfer during our side-by-side testing, making this mattress a good option for light sleepers who share their bed with a partner, children, or pets. They’re unlikely to be disturbed by common motions from their partner, like rolling over or getting out of bed.

Pressure Relief

7.5 / 10

With multiple foam layers and a zoned support core, the Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress relieves pressure points exceptionally well.

The memory foam comfort layer molds around the body, cradling wider areas like the hips and shoulders to redistribute body weight. Underneath, two layers of polyfoam provide deeper contouring while preventing the sleeper from sinking too deep into the support core.

The pocketed coil core adds targeted support and contouring. Five ergonomic zones that vary slightly in firmness provide enhanced support and pressure relief, helping to promote good posture.

Temperature Control

7 / 10

Despite its multiple foam layers, the Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress regulates temperatures relatively well. The Tencel cover is breathable and moisture wicking to help keep sleepers cool and dry. Gel infused in the memory foam comfort layer is also designed to draw heat away from the body. At the base of the mattress, the pocketed coil system allows air to pass through, further cooling the bed.

Its robust cooling features make the Minocasa Mino Hybrid a good option for hot sleepers who prefer the feel of memory foam.

Edge Support

7 / 10

The Mino Hybrid lacks the sturdy edge support common in hybrid models. Because of the mattress’ three foam layers, the perimeter tends to compress significantly under body weight. Although pocketed coils tend to be quite supportive, the Mino Hybrid’s core doesn’t have reinforced sides to counteract the effects of the foam.

To feel secure, sleepers may prefer to avoid lying or sitting along the edge. Couples might find the edge sinkage restrictive since they may be unable to use the full sleep surface. Those with mobility issues might also struggle to get in and out of bed. However, solo sleepers under 130 pounds may not notice the perimeter compressing.

Ease of Movement

6 / 10

We found the Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress lacked the responsiveness of most hybrid models. While the pocketed coil core adds a bit of bounce, the foam layers significantly dampen that effect. The memory foam, in particular, doesn’t regain its shape quickly when the sleeper moves, so rolling over and changing positions is more challenging.

Active sleepers may experience some difficulty moving around throughout the night. Those over 230 pounds might also have a harder time changing positions since they sink further into the bed. Our testers found the mattress was better suited to sleepers who tend to stay in one position for long periods and those under 130 pounds.

Off-Gassing

6.5 / 10

Because of its combination of synthetic foam and breathable coils, the Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress earned comparable off-gassing scores to similarly constructed hybrid models.

When opened, most new mattresses with synthetic foam release a chemical smell from volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This odor is considered harmless, but those who are sensitive to smells may prefer to avoid it. Our testing team found the Mino Hybrid had a less intense odor than other models that contain foam. The smell also dissipated quickly thanks to the breathable coil core.

After unpacking, the majority of the off-gassing occurs within the first few hours. When placed in a well-ventilated area, most smells should completely dissipate within 24 to 72 hours.

Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress Review Breakdown

The Minocasa Mino Hybrid Mattress consists of a memory foam comfort layer atop two layers of polyfoam and a pocketed coil support core. This medium firm (6) model has a 12-inch profile.

A soft Tencel cover surrounds the mattress. Tencel is a semi-synthetic fabric that is breathable and moisture wicking, which helps the surface maintain a more neutral temperature.

The top comfort layer consists of gel-infused memory foam engineered to mold to the body and dissipate heat for pressure relief and temperature regulation. Underneath, two layers of polyfoam distribute body weight for additional pressure relief. The layers also act as a barrier between the top comfort layer and the support core. A thin layer of cotton directly below the polyfoam is designed to isolate heat.

Pocketed coils make up the mattress’ support core. Five firmness zones provide targeted support to encourage healthy spinal alignment. Each coil is also individually wrapped in fabric to minimize noise and motion transfer while enhancing contouring.

The mattress bears CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifications, meaning its materials have been tested for an array of harmful substances.
