Our team at Sleep Foundation conducts extensive hands-on tests for each mattress to provide you with the most reliable, data-driven recommendations and reviews. Below are key guidelines that inform our testing methodology:
Our testers lie on the surface of each mattress to evaluate factors such as contouring and support. We also use specialized tools to measure performance criteria like pressure relief, heat retention, and motion isolation.
We test each mattress using various sleep positions to observe whether a mattress is better suited for side, back, or stomach sleeping. We roll around the surface and sit on the edges to gauge ease of movement and perimeter support.
We have tested hundreds of mattresses and bring years of experience in the mattress industry to the test lab. Our testing team covers a wide range of sleep preferences, sleep positions, and body types. This helps us represent as many sleeper types as possible in our reviews.
A high-end hybrid mattress that focuses on support and temperature regulation. Provides good cushioning and pressure relief but feels more like an innerspring mattresses than thick foam hybrids.

Leesa Sleep is an Arizona-based mattress and bedding retailer with a focus on community giving. For every 10 mattresses the company sells, it donates one bed to a charitable organization.
The Leesa Oasis Chill Hybrid Mattress is one of the brand’s best options for hot sleepers who prefer a surface that hugs their body closely. While the mattress lets sleepers sink into the surface, its cooling features combat heat retention, and a zoned core provides targeted spinal support.
This hybrid model comes in Plush and Cushion-Firm, which correspond to medium soft (4) and medium (5) on our 10-point firmness scale. While both are best suited to side sleepers, certain factors may influence which is ideal for you.
Choose Plush if…
Choose Cushion-Firm if…
You’re a side sleeper who weighs less than 130 pounds. The medium soft (4) surface provides exceptional pressure relief and optimal support for most side sleepers in this weight range.
You’re a side sleeper over 130 pounds, a back sleeper under 230 pounds, or a stomach sleeper under 130 pounds. The medium (5) surface has plenty of cushioning and a bit of extra support for these weight groups.
Below, we’ll break down what makes the Leesa Oasis Chill Hybrid Mattress unique, including its materials and construction, how it performed during our tests, and relevant pricing and policy information.

Testing Team Takeaways
To test the Leesa Oasis Chill Hybrid Mattress, we had three people on our testing team take the bed home and test it for one week. Here are their initial observations.

“The Oasis Chill Hybrid was a major win for me. I honestly couldn’t decide between the two firmness options because I got great support on both. If you’re prone to hip soreness, this bed is worth thinking about.”

“This bed was kind of a mixed bag for me. I got solid support on my back and side, but the surface is pretty huggy, and I had a tough time switching between sleeping positions without getting stuck.”

“I think the Oasis Chill lives up to its name. It’s not the coolest hybrid we’ve ever tested, but it does a really great job at keeping air moving considering how conforming the foam is.”

Side Sleepers
The Leesa Oasis Chill Hybrid Mattress is best suited to side sleepers. Its three foam comfort layers let a side sleeper’s hips and shoulders sink in deeply, preventing pressure points from forming. Meanwhile, the zoned core adds extra support around the center of the bed to keep your spine aligned.
Thanks to its medium (5) feel, our testers of all weights felt comfortable sleeping on their sides on the Cushion-Firm option. Those over 230 pounds noted that their hips and shoulders could use a bit more support, but they didn’t feel like their spinal alignment was significantly affected. The Plush option’s medium soft (4) feel relieved pressure build up exceptionally well for side sleepers under 130 pounds. Our testers above 130 pounds preferred the Cushion-Firm’s extra support.
Back Sleepers
The Leesa Oasis Chill Hybrid Mattress’ combination of contouring and zoned support works well for some back sleepers. The memory foam molds to your lumbar region to ease back pain and enhance comfort, while the support core’s zoning reduces hip sagging.
Our testers found the Cushion-Firm to be the better option for back sleeping. Most testers under 230 pounds felt comfortable lying on their back on this model, but those under 130 pounds were more enthusiastic about the surface’s balance of contouring and support.
Stomach Sleepers
According to our team, stomach sleepers under 130 pounds may enjoy the Oasis Chill Hybrid. Its thick comfort system cushions the front of a stomach sleeper’s body. The zoned core also provides enhanced support around a stomach sleeper’s midsection, reducing the risk of back strain.
That said, both of the Oasis Chill Hybrid’s firmness options were too soft for most of our testers. Those under 130 pounds could lie relatively comfortably on their stomach on either model, but they sank in more deeply than they would have liked. Testers over 130 pounds didn’t get the support they were looking for from either of the Oasis Chill Hybrid’s options, with those over 230 pounds finding the Plush version particularly uncomfortable.
Performance Ratings
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Motion Isolation
8
/ 10
“Hybrids don’t always isolate motion well, but this bed impressed us during kettlebell drop and motion measurement tests. The foam does an excellent job at absorbing movement.” – Colin
Thanks to the Oasis Chill Hybrid’s thicker-than-average comfort system, it absorbs more vibrations than many comparable hybrid mattresses. The three foam layers and pocketed coils significantly limit the spread of motion.
In our evaluations, team members could barely feel when their testing partner changed positions on the other side of the bed. Sleepers who are sensitive to their partners’ movements may find the Oasis Chill Hybrid a great solution.
Pressure Relief
8.5
/ 10
“The foam in this model is incredibly adaptive, so it molds to your body’s shape. It’s also really good at dispersing weight evenly — you really don’t feel much impact under your hips on this bed.” – Jeremy
Like many hybrid models with generous comfort systems, the Oasis Chill Hybrid provides significant pressure relief. Its three foam layers cushion the surface and mold to a sleeper’s body to redistribute their weight. This combination creates a plush feel while preventing pressure buildup around key areas like the hips and shoulders.
Temperature Control
7
/ 10
“There’s quite a bit of body-hugging foam in this model, which is usually a recipe for heat retention. However, the cooling tech works as advertised, and this bed is cooler than you’d expect.” – Jackson
As its name suggests, the Oasis Chill Hybrid is billed as a cooling mattress, and our temperature readings showed that the surface stays cooler than many models with close-conforming comfort systems.
The construction includes multiple pieces of cooling technology including a moisture-wicking cover as well as gel and copper infusions. Memory foam tends to sleep warm, but these additional components help counteract heat retention to keep you cool. The coil core also keeps air flowing freely.
Edge Support
8
/ 10
Plush: 5.5 / 10
Cushion-Firm: 7 / 10
“If edge support is important to you, it makes sense to get the Cushion-Firm model instead of the Plush. It’s stronger at the edges and better at springing back to its original shape.” – Brad
Due to the Leesa Oasis Chill Hybrid Mattress’ thick comfort system, our testing team noted mild to moderate compression along the mattress perimeter.
The Cushion-Firm’s medium (5) feel contributed to a slightly more supportive perimeter. Most team members were comfortable sitting or lying along the edges, though those over 230 pounds felt much more secure in the center of the bed.
The Plush version’s medium soft (4) feel limited the space our testers were comfortable using. The instability made them feel like they could slip off if they got too close to the edge.
Ease of Movement
6.5
/ 10
Plush: 5.5 / 10
Cushion-Firm: 7 / 10
“The Plush was pretty hard for me to move around on without feeling trapped. I had more luck with the Cushion-Firm, but I found both beds compressive rather than bouncy.” – Mary
The Leesa Oasis Chill Hybrid Mattress is slightly more challenging to move on than the average hybrid model. Hybrid mattresses are often quite responsive due to their bouncy coil cores. But because of this model’s thick foam comfort system, our testing team barely detected the bounce of the coils.
Due to the plusher feel, testers also sank relatively deeply into the foam layers, impeding their movement. This was more pronounced on the Plush option than the Cushion-Firm. Additionally, the memory foam retained body impressions for a moment when testers moved, making position changes more difficult.
Off-Gassing
7
/ 10
“While there’s definitely a smell when you unbox this bed, it’s not as strong as other foam-heavy mattresses.” – Logan
The Oasis Chill Hybrid Mattress contains synthetic foam and ships compressed, so it emits some off-gassing odors. Off-gassing is a result of a mattress trapping volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the foam during manufacturing.
If you’re sensitive to smells, let your mattress air out in a well-ventilated room for a few days. Our testing team reported that most detectable odors dissipated within 48 hours.
Leesa uses foams certified by CertiPUR-US, which means the material meets third-party standards for low indoor VOC emissions.
The Leesa Oasis Chill Hybrid Mattress is a hybrid mattress that’s 13.5 inches thick and comes in two firmness options. The Plush version equates to a medium soft (4) on our 10-point firmness scale, while the Cushion-Firm has a medium (5) feel.
A 1.75-inch layer of polyfoam serves as the first comfort layer. It’s quilted into the cover and is infused with gel intended to disperse heat. Next, a 1.5-inch layer of memory foam provides deeper cradling, and a copper infusion is included to combat heat retention. The final layer of the comfort system uses 1.5 inches of more adaptive memory foam designed to enhance the bed’s responsiveness.
The mattress’ support core has eight inches of individually pocketed coils arranged in firmness zones to provide extra support in the center of the bed and along its edges. A final 0.75-inch layer of high-density polyfoam supports the coils, giving them an even surface to compress against.
A fabric cover containing a blend of polyester, polyethylene, and rayon wraps around the mattress. This material is designed for surface-level cooling.
The Leesa Oasis Chill Hybrid is sold through the Leesa website and ships within the U.S. Select Leesa products are also available through West Elm and Pottery Barn, though different policies may apply.
