The Pod Pro Max isolates a good amount of motion. Its polyfoam comfort, transition, and support layers dampen movement so that you’re unlikely to notice every time your partner changes positions. Since polyfoam is more responsive than memory foam, some vibrations could still spread across the surface.
Most sleepers should experience few disturbances. However, the Pod Pro Max may not be ideal for sleepers who are extremely sensitive to their partners’ movements.

Pros
Cons
The Eight Sleep Pod Pro Max is the most advanced model in the Pod line of smart mattresses. Eight Sleep released its original flagship Pod Mattress in 2019. This model introduced Active Grid technology designed to track sleep habits and regulate surface temperatures. The Pod Pro added more advanced technology, including new sensors to monitor room climate, track breathing, and record heart rate data. Sleepers can also choose to have a gentle vibration and temperature changes wake them in the morning.
Released in 2020, the Pod Pro Max builds on the features of its predecessors. Like the Pod and the Pod Pro, small tubes in the Pod Pro Max’s cover connect to an external device called the “Hub.” You can adjust the temperature on either side of the bed from the Eight Sleep app. Temperature settings range from 55 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit (12.8 to 46.1 degrees Celsius). The Pod Pro Max also incorporates the enhanced monitoring of the Pod Pro and its GentleRise feature.
What sets the Pod Pro Max apart is its addition of specially designed MaxChill polyfoam. Infused with silver, graphite, and copper, this polyfoam is intended to conduct heat away from the body while combating microbial growth.
All three mattresses in the Pod line carry higher price tags than the average all-foam model due to their smart features. The Pod Pro Max is the most expensive out of the three, but it may be worth it for shoppers who value extra cooling technology.
We will look at the Pod Pro Max’s construction, pricing, and performance. We’ll also discuss its shipping, trial, and warranty information.

Answer a few questions to find the right mattress for your unique needs
Sleeping Style and Body Weight
Side Sleepers
Overall, the Pod Pro Max is a good choice for most side sleepers, who often prefer softer surfaces that contour to their hips and shoulders and support their spines. The moderate cradling of the Pod Pro Max’s polyfoam comfort layers relieves pressure well, especially for side sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds. The medium firm feel and high-density polyfoam support core also help prevent excessive sinkage that could jeopardize alignment.
The Pod Pro Max also adequately supports side sleepers under 130 pounds and over 230 pounds. However, the surface may be too firm to sufficiently cushion the shoulders and hips of side sleepers under 130 pounds. Meanwhile, side sleepers over 230 pounds could sink a bit too deeply into the mattress, potentially misaligning their spines.
Back Sleepers
Its medium firm feel and moderate contouring make the Pod Pro Max popular with back sleepers under 130 pounds. Their hips should sink into the polyfoam comfort system without drooping, keeping their spines in natural alignment.
The Pod Pro Max also provides a relatively even sleep surface for back sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds. However, some may experience lower back pain from their hips sinking too deeply into the polyfoam comfort layers.
Back sleepers over 230 pounds often prefer a firmer model with less give to promote good posture. The Pod Pro Max’s plush, thick comfort system may allow these individuals to sink too deeply, potentially misaligning their spines and causing lower back pain.
Stomach Sleepers
Stomach sleepers under 130 pounds may appreciate the Pod Pro Max’s even surface and limited sinkage. The high-density polyfoam in the support core creates structure, and the softer polyfoam comfort layers add cushioning.
The mattress’ medium firm feel also supports stomach sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds, but the polyfoam comfort system may not prevent their torsos from sagging slightly.
The Pod Pro Max is not ideal for most stomach sleepers over 230 pounds. Their midsections are likely to sink too deeply, straining their lower backs. The sinkage could also cause these sleepers to twist their necks too far to breathe, potentially causing neck pain.

Eight Sleep Pod Pro Max Mattress Review Breakdown
The Pod Pro Max is a 12-inch, all-foam smart mattress. It has a medium firm (6) feel that suits most sleeping positions and body weights.
A polyester and cotton blend cover includes Eight Sleep’s Active Grid system with biometric sensors to track sleep quality and other health metrics, including sleep duration, wake-up time, movement, breathing, heart rate, and body temperature. In the morning, you can check your sleep score in the accompanying Eight Sleep app.
The Active Grid also houses the temperature control system. Small water tubes run from the Hub into the cover. You can raise or lower the water temperature on either side of the bed using the Eight Sleep app. Sensors also measure the temperature and humidity of the room and local weather to adjust automatically. Additionally, a GentleRise feature triggers a soft vibration at your chest and subtle temperature adjustments to wake you up less abruptly than a traditional alarm.
Polyfoam integrated into the Active Grid to alleviate pressure by contouring to the hips and shoulders. Another 1-inch layer of polyfoam underneath adds to the effect.
Next is a 1-inch layer of the company’s new MaxChill polyfoam, featuring infusions of silver, graphite, and copper. These three materials are intended to disperse heat away from the sleeper and reduce bacteria growth. Underneath, a 1-inch layer of polyfoam and a 4-inch layer of convoluted polyfoam balance deep cradling and support.
Finally, a 4-inch high-density polyfoam support core creates an even sleep surface.
