Founded in 1995, Brooklyn Bedding began as a brick-and-mortar retailer before taking its products online. The Arizona-based company offers an assortment of mattresses, foundations, sheets, and pillows. Shoppers can view popular beds like the Dreamfoam Essential and the Signature Hybrid online, at one of Brooklyn Bedding’s Arizona showrooms, or at brick-and-mortar partner retailers.

Dreamfoam is a sister company of Brooklyn Bedding that specializes in hybrid and memory foam mattresses. Dreamfoam also makes sleep accessories like toppers and adjustable bases.

The Dreamfoam Copper Mattress is a memory foam hybrid designed to keep sleepers cool and comfortable. This mattress is sold exclusively online and features three comfort layers in addition to a pocketed coil core with reinforced edges. The 13-inch option has a medium (5) feel, while the 12-inch model has a firm (8) feel.

Other Dreamfoam models include the Essential, which is an all-foam mattress and Dreamfoam’s most affordable option. Dreamfoam’s Hybrid combines memory foam with a pocketed coil core. Like the Essential, the Hybrid has a below-average price tag and comes in both standard and custom sizes. The Dreamfoam Latex combines Talalay latex with a pocketed coil core and comes in two heights and three firmness levels.

We’ll break down the Dreamfoam Copper Dreams Mattress’ construction, features, and performance. We’ll also cover company policies and how the mattress suits different sleeper types so you can determine if it’s the right fit for your needs.

Dreamfoam’s Copper Dreams Mattress is available in two profiles, 12 and 13 inches. The 13-inch model has a slightly thinner comfort system and a medium (5) feel. The 12-inch version has a thicker layer of memory foam and a firm (8) feel.

The right thickness and feel for you depends on your body weight and sleep position. It’s also important to consider what contouring level you prefer when deciding between the two models.

  • Choose Medium if… you have stiff muscles and sore joints or tend to develop sharp pressure points on firmer mattresses. The medium (5) feel relieves tension by evenly distributing weight and contouring the sleeper’s body. Side sleepers and people under 130 pounds may appreciate the medium model’s thicker memory foam layers.
  • Choose Firm if… you enjoy a sturdier surface with minimal sinkage. The firm (8) feel is well suited to stomach and back sleepers who don’t need significant contouring to keep the spine in alignment. The model also offers a balance of cushioning and support for side sleepers over 130 pounds.

Side Sleepers

The Copper Dreams’ multi-layered comfort system should relieve pressure buildup for most side sleepers. Two memory foam layers pad pressure points on the shoulders and hips, while denser polyfoam helps the spine stay level.

With its deeper cradling, we found the medium feel was best suited to side sleepers under 230 pounds. The plusher surface provides more contouring, helping to ease tension on the knees, hips, and shoulders. The firm model’s thinner comfort system is better able to cushion side sleepers over 230 pounds while still keeping them on top of the mattress.

Back Sleepers

Back sleepers should benefit from the Copper Dreams’ balance of contouring and support. The comfort system conforms to the shoulders and hips without letting the midsection sink excessively. Transitional foam and a steel coil core reinforce good spinal alignment.

Our testing team found the firm model to be an excellent choice for back sleepers above 130 pounds. Its light contouring keeps the spine level, helping to reduce strain on the lower back. Back sleepers under 130 pounds may find the firm model to be too firm and that medium model offers better contouring and support.

Stomach Sleepers

This sleep position is the most prone to spinal misalignment, especially when a mattress is too soft. The Copper Dreams’ responsive memory foam doesn’t overly conform to the stomach, which helps to keep the hips and shoulders on the same plane. During testing, the firm version was especially good at resisting sinking under the midsection.

We found the medium feel to be supportive enough for stomach sleepers under 230 pounds. Stomach sleepers over 130 pounds may sink too much on the medium model, increasing the risk of sleeping with an unnatural curve in the spine. The firm model performed well for stomach sleepers over 130 pounds, making it a better choice for sleepers in this weight category.

Mattress Performance

In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.

Motion Isolation

6.5 / 10

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 12″ Firm: / 5

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 13″ Medium: / 5

The Dreamfoam Copper Dreams isolates motion fairly well for a hybrid. Like other hybrids, the substantial memory foam layers absorb motion, while pocketed springs help minimize vibrations from traveling across the bed’s surface.

The medium model received slightly higher scores during testing. The uppermost memory foam layer is twice as thick as the firm model’s, and our testers barely noticed when their partner moved in bed during testing.

Couples sleeping on the firm surface may notice some movement when their partner shifts positions or gets in and out of bed. We found most motion disruptions to be pretty minimal on both versions.

Pressure Relief

6.5 / 10

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 12″ Firm: / 5

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 13″ Medium: / 5

Pressure relief depends on a mattress’ balance of contouring and support. The Copper Dreams features two different layers of plush memory foam designed to mold closely to the body in response to a sleeper’s weight.

An underlying layer of dense transitional foam also reduces pressure buildup by dispersing body weight more evenly. The coil support core helps prevent excess sagging that can lead to aches and pains.

Although both models performed well, our testing team found that the medium feel delivered more pressure relief than the firm model, as the thicker memory foam layers offered deeper contouring.

That said, stomach and back sleepers over 230 pounds may notice less pressure buildup on the firm model. The sturdier surface on the firm model supports better spine alignment for sleepers in this weight category, which helps prevent pressure points from forming.

Temperature Control

7 / 10

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 12″ Firm: / 5

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 13″ Medium: / 5

The Dreamfoam Copper Dreams does a great job at staying temperature neutral. True to its design, our testers found the breathable woven cover helped keep the surface cool and dry. Testing also revealed that the top memory foam layer didn’t trap too much heat, as can happen with some memory foam mattresses.

Dreamfoam created this mattress with hot sleepers in mind. Copper and graphite infused in the memory foam are designed to draw heat away from the sleeper, while pocketed coils promote more airflow than traditional springs.

Both firmness options regulated temperature equally well during testing. Hot sleepers and those who sink more into the mattress shouldn’t experience uncomfortable heat buildup on the Copper Dreams Mattress.

Edge Support

7 / 10

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 12″ Firm: / 5

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 13″ Medium: / 5

Many hybrids feature reinforced sides to strengthen edge support. The Dreamfoam Copper Dreams takes edge support to the next level by reinforcing the entire perimeter with thicker coils.

These sturdier springs line each edge of the mattress. Our team found above-average edge support on both levels of firmness increased stability when sitting or lying near the side of a bed.

Though both models had sufficient support around the edges of the mattress during testing, our team found that the firm model had slightly stronger edge support and compressed less under weight and pressure.

Ease of Movement

6 / 10

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 12″ Firm: / 5

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 13″ Medium: / 5

As is the case with most hybrids, sleepers should be able to move easily on the Copper Dreams Mattress. During testing, we found that the mattress’ comfort system regained its shape more quickly than other types of memory foam, so sleepers shouldn’t feel trapped in the mattress.

Due to its more responsive feel, we rated the firm model slightly higher in this category.

Off-Gassing

6.5 / 10

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 12″ Firm: / 5

Dreamfoam Copper Hybrid – 13″ Medium: / 5

Some people are surprised to find that their new mattress has a distinctive smell. While not exactly pleasant, off-gassing odors are common in mattresses that contain memory foam and not considered harmful. The smell comes from volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are chemicals produced in the manufacture of foam and certain other materials.

Off-gassing odors should disappear within 48 hours of unboxing the mattress.

Dreamfoam Copper Dreams Mattress Review Breakdown

The Dreamfoam Copper Mattress is a four-layer hybrid available in two profiles. The 13-inch model has a medium (5) feel, while the 12-inch option rates as a firm (8) on our 10-point firmness scale. A breathable woven top is designed to keep the surface temperature neutral.

Both levels of firmness feature the same basic materials and construction. A top memory foam comfort layer evenly conforms to the body to relieve pressure buildup while graphite and copper infusions are engineered to draw heat away from sleepers. The firm model uses a slightly thinner layer of memory foam to create the firmer surface.

An additional layer of memory foam increases the mattress’ contouring capabilities. This layer is thicker on the firm model for additional support. Both versions include a 2-inch layer of transitional foam to help spread body weight evenly across the mattress. The denser polyfoam also buffers sleepers from the coil support core.

The Copper Dreams’ pocketed coil support core gives the mattress stability and slight bounce. Pocketed coils are designed to promote airflow while curbing motion transfer. Sturdier coils on the edge of the bed reinforce the perimeter for enhanced edge support.
