Our team at Sleep Foundation conducts extensive hands-on tests for each mattress to provide you with the most reliable, data-driven recommendations and reviews. Below are key guidelines that inform our testing methodology:
Our testers lie on the surface of each mattress to evaluate factors such as contouring and support. We also use specialized tools to measure performance criteria like pressure relief, heat retention, and motion isolation.
We test each mattress using various sleep positions to observe whether a mattress is better suited for side, back, or stomach sleeping. We roll around the surface and sit on the edges to gauge ease of movement and perimeter support.
We have tested hundreds of mattresses and bring years of experience in the mattress industry to the test lab. Our testing team covers a wide range of sleep preferences, sleep positions, and body types. This helps us represent as many sleeper types as possible in our reviews.
The DreamCloud Premier Rest offers a plush, high-profile design with gel-infused memory foam and a quilted Euro-top for excellent pressure relief and cradling. Its medium firm (6) feel is ideal for side and back sleepers, combining luxurious comfort with reliable support. Cooling features and motion isolation add to its appeal, though stomach sleepers over 230 pounds may need firmer support.

Testing Team Takeaways
To test the DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress, we had three people on our testing team each take the bed home with them for one week. Here are their initial observations.
Colin Simpson
Product Research Manager
Side sleeper
190 pounds
Talks in sleep (like a lot)
For a side sleeper like me, the DreamCloud Premier Rest effectively softened impact under my hips and shoulders. I also found it to have really great motion isolation.
Logan Foley
Editorial Director
Side sleeper
140 pounds
Has too many dogs in the bed
Like Colin, I liked the pressure relief and motion isolation from the DreamCloud Premier Rest. But the deep contouring may be off-putting to people over 230 pounds.
Daniel Noyed
Senior Product Editor
Back sleeper
165 pounds
Dunks head in ice water to wake up
Based on my experience, this mattress works well enough but it isn’t the best for most back sleepers. It had too much sink for me. There’s less bounce than you’d expect for a hybrid, too, so it’s easier for me to feel stuck in place.

Side Sleepers
We found that the DreamCloud Premier Rest is a great match for side sleepers who weigh under 230 pounds. It provides excellent pressure relief, preventing impact around the hips and shoulders. The bed’s cushioning helps most side sleepers sleep comfortably and maintain a neutral posture.
During our testing, side sleepers over 230 pounds felt that the mattress was too soft, which led to deep sinkage and a reduced level of support. The bed had too much give, basically.
Back Sleepers
When it came to the back sleepers, the DreamCloud Premier Rest offered the best support to testers under 130 pounds. The hybrid model earned slightly better reviews thanks to the light pushback from the innerspring coils.
Back sleepers between 130 and 230 pounds received adequate support from the Premier Rest but almost all of them said that they would prefer a mattress with more firmness and less sinkage. Back sleepers over 230 pounds felt their midsection push too far into the mattress, which prevented them from sleeping comfortably.
Stomach Sleepers
The DreamCloud Premier Rest is not that great at meeting the needs of stomach sleepers. Stomach sleepers do best on sleep surfaces that are flat and even, but the contouring foams of the Premier Rest were too cushy.
Some of our stomach sleepers felt like they got enough support from the mattress, but most felt like they were sleeping too far inside the bed to be comfortable. Stomach sleepers over 230 pounds gave the lowest scores to this mattress.
Mattress Performance
In addition to the hands-on feedback from our team, we conduct a number of quantitative tests in our Test Lab. The below ratings are based on the experience of our testers.
Motion Isolation
8.5
/ 10
“If you want great motion isolation, the DreamCloud Premier Rest is an amazing fit. Its memory foam layers excel at keeping movement from causing ripple effects across the mattress.” – Colin
Our testing team raved about the DreamCloud Premier Rest’s ability to isolate motion. With two layers of conforming memory foam, it absorbs small movements and vibrations so they can’t spread across the mattress and disrupt your bed partner.
This makes the Premier Rest a good fit for couples, especially if one person tends to move around a lot in bed.
Pressure Relief
9
/ 10
“The four foam layers in the comfort layer were great at pressure relief for me as a side sleeper. But I can see how the softer cushioning and hug would be too much for some sleepers.” – Logan
Tests of pressure relief showed strong performance by the Premier Rest. It has four different foam layers that combine to reduce impact around the joints and accommodate pressure points so that the spine can remain in a more neutral alignment.
However, our testing also found that certain sleepers, especially stomach sleepers and people over 230 pounds, got less support from the Premier Rest because of its significant contouring properties – the bed just felt too soft under the midsection to provide enough support.
Temperature Control
7
/ 10
“Despite the gel-infused foams, the DreamCloud Premier Rest definitely retains a bit of heat. I’m a hot sleeper and it wasn’t terrible for me, but it could be a problem for some.” – Danny
We found that the DreamCloud Premier Rest has solid temperature control, with some heat retention.
The main factors affecting the bed’s temperature are the foam layers and the way they hug the body. As the mattress conforms to your body, it can block air from moving over your skin. This can cause heat to build up, and that heat collects in the foam.
DreamCloud infuses three of the foam layers with gel to cut down on this heat retention. The bed manages to avoid holding on to a lot of heat, but it can still be a problem for some hot sleepers. The all-foam model builds up more heat than the hybrid, which permits some airflow through the coils.
Edge Support
6.5
/ 10
“Edge support on this mattress left something to be desired. I wouldn’t say the edges are unstable, but maybe a little unsteady. There’s some foam compression that you’ll feel when sitting or sleeping near the edge.” – Colin
The foam comfort layers are at their weakest around the edges of the mattress, and there’s noticeable compression when you try to sleep near the perimeter of the Premier Rest.
We found that the edge felt noticeably less supportive than the rest of the mattress surface. The memory foam model was slightly weaker around the edge than the hybrid, and our testers who weigh over 230 pounds experienced the most compression.
Ease of Movement
6.5
/ 10
“With a thick comfort system with four foam layers, there’s just not a lot of bounciness on this mattress. Even on the hybrid, I found it a bit more difficult than I expected to change positions in bed.” – Logan
In our tests, the Premier Rest got below-average ratings for ease of movement. The foam layers cradle the body and are slow to bounce back when you move. This can lead to a “quicksand” feeling, especially for people with a higher body weight.
The hybrid was somewhat better, but overall, the Premier Rest isn’t the best for people who want a bouncy mattress that’s easy to move on.
Off-Gassing
7.5
/ 10
“The Premier Rest gives off a smell, but I didn’t think it was that bad. There was a stronger odor from the memory foam model since it has a lot more foam inside.” – Danny
When you unbox the DreamCloud Premier Rest, you should expect there to be a “new mattress smell.” While there’s no health risk from it, this off-gassing can be bothersome for a few days until the smell dissipates.
We found that the level of off-gassing by the Premier Rest was comparable to other mattresses with similar materials. Because of its all-foam construction, the memory foam model gave off a stronger smell than the hybrid.
The DreamCloud Premier Rest comes in two models. One is a hybrid, and the other is all-foam. Both are 14 inches tall and have a firmness level of medium firm (6).
At 14 inches tall, the Premier Rest is a high-profile model. This may make it easier for some people to get into and out of bed, particularly if they’re taller or use a low-profile bed frame. That being said, the mattress may require deep pocket sheets.
The construction of the DreamCloud Premier Rest is similar in the hybrid and all-foam models. They each have a cover made with a cashmere blend designed to be soft and breathable.
The mattress features a Euro-style pillow-top, also known as a Euro-top. The top interior layer is made with gel-infused memory foam that is quilted into the Euro-top. The next layer is a responsive polyfoam that’s also quilted into the cover.
Beneath that is a thicker layer of gel-infused memory foam that rests on a dynamic transition layer made of polyfoam. The combination of these foam materials is designed to create significant contouring, motion isolation, and pressure relief.
The key design difference between the hybrid and memory foam models is in the support core. In the hybrid, there’s an 8-inch layer of pocketed innerspring coils above a half-inch layer of shock-absorbing polyfoam.
In the memory foam model, the support core is made of 9 inches of high-density polyfoam.
