In terms of height, the Lull Mattress is 2-4 inches shorter than the Nectar models. The Lull Original (10 inches), Lull Original Premium (12), Lull Luxe (13 inches) Nectar Mattress (12 inches), and Nectar Premier (13 inches) should work easily with fitted sheets that have a standard pocket depth. However, the Premier Copper (14 inches) may require deep pocket sheets. The slight height difference in the Nectar mattresses is unlikely to make a major impact on most people’s experience on the bed, but it’s a good idea to measure your bed frame just to confirm what the total height will be with the mattress on top of it.

The Nectar Mattress and Lull Mattress weigh nearly the same, but the Nectar Premier and Premier Copper weigh a bit more. Under its polyester-blend cover, the Nectar Mattress has three layers:

• 3 inches of transitional polyfoam
• 7 inches of high-density base polyfoam

These layers combine to give the Nectar a medium firm (6) feel. While the mattress isn’t plush, its memory foam layer provides significant pressure relief and the ability to contour to the body’s weight without sagging or sinking. The transitional and base polyfoam  further enhance structural integrity. Gel-infused foams in the top layer works against the buildup of heat coming off the body and also reduce disruptive motion transfer.

The Nectar Premier’s interior construction involves three components:

• 3 inches of gel-infused memory foam with phase-change material
• 3 inches of transitional polyfoam
• 7 inches of high-density base polyfoam

The Nectar Premier measures in at one inch taller than the Nectar Mattress, but both models share a medium firm (6) feel. The Premier utilizes a thick memory foam top layer to cushion the body’s pressure points and isolate motion. That layer includes phase-change material that provides an innovative approach to keeping heat from building up in the foam. The transitional foam layer contributes bounce and, along with the thick polyfoam base, helps stop sleepers from pushing too deeply down into the bed’s comfort system.

Lastly, the Nectar Premier Copper features a three-layer design:

• 4 inches of gel-infused memory foam with phase-change material
• 1 inch of transitional polyfoam
• 9 inches of high-density base polyfoam

While the 14-inch Premier Copper also has a medium firm (6) feel, its thicker memory foam layer provides more body-contouring for sleepers. As its name implies, the cover is infused with copper, which has natural cooling properties to provide even better temperature control compared to the Nectar or Nectar Premier.

Lull

The Lull Original Mattress is also an all-foam option, although its construction varies in several ways from the offerings from Nectar.

The cover is made with a blend of polyester and rayon. Rayon shares many characteristics with Tencel, such as its smoothness and breathability. Polyester is smooth to the touch as well, but it does not wick moisture quite as well as rayon and Tencel.

The interior of the Lull is built with three layers:

• 1.5 inches of gel-infused memory foam
• 1.5 inches of a latex-like polyfoam
• 7 inches of base polyfoam

Each layer of the Lull is designed to play its part in cultivating an overall feel that is medium firm (6) with a blend of contouring and bounce. The memory foam works to soften impact around pressure points like the shoulders and hips and support a healthy alignment of the spine. It also reduces motion transfer, and the gel infusion cuts down on heat retention.

Underneath the memory foam, the latex-like polyfoam gives the bed more responsiveness than is found in many memory foam mattresses. With its bounce and light contouring, this material prevents people from feeling like they are sleeping on quicksand. The seven-inch layer of base polyfoam further bolsters the mattress with an overall sense of sturdiness.

The Lull Original Premium Mattress is another all-foam option. This model is similar to the flagship Original, but it contains 2 more inches of foam cushioning — this makes the surface plusher and more adaptive.

The interior consists of four individual layers:

Based on the sticker price, the Lull Mattress has an advantage over all three Nectar models. In all sizes, the Lull Mattress comes with a lower price tag, and compared with the Nectar Premier or Premier Copper, its price is significantly lower.

The Lull Mattress and Nectar Mattress fall within a category of more affordable all-foam mattresses that, once promotions are included, tend to have comparable price points. The Nectar Premier and Premier Copper are higher-end foam mattresses that comes with more expensive sticker prices.

For a major purchase like a new mattress, it’s important to make sure that you’re clear on all the nuts-and-bolts like shipping, returns, and warranties. Shipping

When buying a mattress online, there are two main options for how you can receive it.

Standard shipping is far and away the most common delivery method, and it is almost always free for mattresses purchased online. This approach, also known as mattress-in-a-box shipping, involves the mattress being compressed in plastic and shipped directly to your doorstep. Assembly is simple, requiring only that you bring the box to your bedroom and remove the packaging. Once removed from the plastic, the mattress will regain its full size. The most difficult part of this installation is lifting the box and positioning the mattress, which may require two or more people depending on the weight of the mattress.

White Glove delivery is a no-stress option in which a team of people come to your home and set up the mattress for you. These technicians can usually remove an old mattress as well. White Glove delivery is not available from all brands or in all locations. When available, it usually comes at an additional charge.

Nectar Shipping Policies

Nectar includes free standard shipping for customers who are located in the contiguous United States. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii incurs an extra charge.

White Glove delivery services that include new mattress setup and old mattress removal are available from Nectar in many locations for $149.

Lull Shipping Policies

Lull provides free standard shipping with FedEx Ground to customers in the 48 contiguous U.S. states. Customers in Alaska and Hawaii pay an extra charge for shipping. Lull does not currently offer any White Glove delivery services.

Sleep Trial and Returns

A benefit to buying a mattress online is that you almost always have a sleep trial that lets you test out the mattress in the comfort of your own home. The sleep trial is a flexible return policy that offers you a refund if you aren’t happy with the mattress. This customer-friendly approach to returns makes many online shoppers comfortable with the fact that they can’t see the mattress in person before making a purchase.

The industry standard sleep trial is around 100 nights and includes no fees for return shipping or picking up the mattress. To ensure that you give your body a chance to adjust to the new mattress, many companies require that you keep the bed for a few weeks before requesting a return.

Nectar Sleep Trial and Return Policy

Nectar offers one of the longest sleep trials in the industry, letting customers try their mattresses for up to 365 nights. The company requires that you keep the mattress for 30 nights as a break-in period, but after that, you have a year to request a return and get a full refund.

If you opt for White Glove delivery, that $149 fee is non-refundable if you choose to make a return.

Lull Sleep Trial and Return Policy

Like Nectar, Lull offers a 365-night sleep trial. However, the Lull trial does not require a break-in period, so you can ask for a return and a full refund at any point. For returns, Lull picks up the mattress from your home with no fees for return shipping or restocking.

Warranty

Mattress warranties provide recourse for customers if there is an obvious defect in the materials or workmanship of the product. These warranties usually last for at least five years and require the company to repair the mattress or replace it with a new one if there is a defect. That said, customers should know that accidental damage and incremental wear-and-tear are not classified as defects in mattress warranties.

Depending on the warranty, you may have to pay for a portion of the costs for repairing or replacing a mattress. In a non-prorated warranty, the customer’s share stays the same for the entire time. In a prorated warranty, your share of costs goes up along with the amount of time that you’ve owned the mattress.

Nectar Mattress Warranty

Nectar provides a Forever Warranty for all three models, meaning that there is coverage against defects for as long as you own the mattress. The warranty terms change slightly over time. During the first 10 years, the company will repair or replace a defective mattress at zero cost to the customer. After 10 years, the company will still provide repairs or a replacement, but the customer must pay $50 for shipping each way. Those shipping charges, though, can be waived if the mattress is confirmed to be defective.

Lull Mattress Warranty

Lull also backs each mattress purchase with a lifetime warranty. Owners pay nothing – including transportation fees – if their mattress is ruled defective during the first 10 years of ownership and needs to be repaired or replaced. After 10 years, owners must pay a flat fee of $75 if the mattress needs to be replaced due to a defect.
