Patients Believe Physicians Need More Education About RLS, New Survey Finds

The Willis-Ekbom Disease Foundation and XenoPort, Inc. recently conducted a survey of patients with Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS -- also known as Willis-Ekbom Disease) and found two-thirds of patients (68%) strongly believe physicians need more education about the disease.

People with Parkinson's Disease More Likely to Have Leg Restlessness than Restless Legs Syndrome

People with Parkinson's disease may be more likely to have a movement disorder called leg motor restlessness, but not true restless legs syndrome as previous studies have suggested, according to a study published in the Nov. 9, 2011, online issue of Neurology®, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

FDA Approves New RLS Drug

The FDA recently approved a new drug to treat restless legs syndrome (RLS). Horizant Extended Release Tablets (gabapentin enacarbil), a once-daily treatment, is the third drug approved by the FDA to treat moderate-to-severe restless legs syndrome (RLS).
